Women Do South Festival - Evie Asio + Dilara

Women-Do-South_Evie-Asio-and-Dilara.jpg

6pm - Evie Asio’ Creating a journey through sounds and words is at the centre of Evie Asio’s musical world. In the same way that every good story cannot be fully digested in one read, Evie draws on decades of genres and artistic influences to evoke something in the listener that is multilayered and complex in feeling.

5pm - ‘Dilara’ a poet, storyteller and vocalist, born to Irish and Turkish parents. Music was a strong feature in her upbringing. Her dad, an Irish Trad flute player and composer himself, owned a large collection of stylistically eclectic vinyls and cds. Dilara picked up tunes by ear through listening, singing, playing the tin-whistle and later at the age of 12 started receiving formal classical piano lessons. Since then she has performed in a wide range of venues and festivals including the Royal Albert Hall, the Southbank Centre, Union Chapel, Chats Palace, Brainchild and Non-Classical Battle Of The Bands. She features on her dad, Chris Corbett's album, "Out Of Thin Air"
