Bullet Theatre is proud to present a new original and (be-lated) coming-of-age tale from upcoming Writer/Director, Helen Iley.
“...and if all else perished, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty strange”
Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights
A coming of age when the character is, very much, ‘of age’. When tragedy hits, a 20-something year old Mara is forced to start over and confront the present, herself and a world - all completely unfamiliar to her.
Bullet Theatre is a London & Bristol-based company founded by three women. Their work aims to boldly and unashamedly explore the experience of being female. Their last production of Anna Jordan’s ‘FREAK’ was a 5-star, sell-out in Bristol and the Edinburgh Fringe and now they are excited to bring a bold new, original story to its first audience.
Helen Iley is a Northern, Queer Writer & Director. Having currently worked in Film & HETV as a Script Editor and Director’s Assistant, she has worked closely with prolific creatives such as Ben Wheatley and with companies such as Lucas Films and Netflix. Now developing her own slate of work, her writing has been shortlisted for competitions through the BBC, BFI as well as most recently being a finalist at Raindance Film Festival with her script ‘Egg & Chips’. She is now part of a fellowship writing course through their film school. As a writer, she approaches her work with a humanistic approach and hopes to continue to write work that addresses social stigmas and how everyday characters encounter extraordinary and emotional challenges.
