Live Music: Dave Sears + Sky Police

9.30pm - Dave Sears plays a transatlantic folk style with modern musings. Dave grew up playing in grunge bands in the 1990s signed to a major label and touring with the likes of Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains, Nick Oliveri of Queens of the Stioneage/Kyuss. In the late 2000s he went solo playing a brand of British/Irish folk and Americana tinged with the unplugged influence of his grunge generation. His music is influenced by Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, To Jack White and Jeff Buckley. He relentlessly plays around London bars has been a regular at The Spiritual Folk and Blues Bar in Camden and has appeared at Sofar Sounds gigs. 

Has a residency at The Oval Tavern in Croydon one of South Londons top venues well known for it’s extensive Folk, Blues and Jazz pedigree. He’s currently recording his debut album.

8.45pm - Sky Police are an up and coming act from Kingston who have impressed local audiences with their style and musicianship and are now making headway into the London music scene. They expertly combine jazz, funk, folk and neo soul with influences as diverse as Khruangbin, Simon and Garfunkel and Peter Gabriel. After wowing audiences at a recent Sofar sounds gig, they are now recording in the legendary toni visconti studio with music to be released later this year.
